JEC Americas 2014 turns to a Mega Event collocating with 2 other high-tech shows

JEC Americas Atlanta 2014
9 Dec 2013
JEC Highlights Automotive, Aeronautics, Infrastructure and Textiles industries at the much-anticipated JEC Americas Composites Conference & Show this May in Atlanta.

This spring, composite manufacturers from around the world will come to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from May 13 to 15 for the third annual JEC Americas Exhibition & Conference, the only composites event that brings together leaders from the full spectrum of the global composites value chain, both upstream and downstream. This year, the JEC Group will leverage its new relationship with Messe Frankfurt, Inc. to bring together the JEC Americas Exhibition & Conference with Messe Frankfurt’s Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas shows, giving visitors a rare opportunity to attend all three events at once.

Convened by JEC Group, the world’s largest organization exclusively dedicated to the composites industry, this highly anticipated event provides the North American premiere venue for composites designers, manufacturers and suppliers to showcase their technologies, expand their expertise, network with a wide array of industry professionals and gain a competitive edge in this important market.

The Americas are a critical strategic market for anyone hoping to compete in the global composites industry, which is why JEC has been involved in the Americas for over 50 years”, says Mrs. Frédérique Mutel, JEC’s president and chief executive officer. “The region is a major global center of composites innovation, and is a beacon for industry players who wish to compete and thrive in the largest worldwide market. The region represents 34 percent of the global composites industry in value and 32 percent in volume, and is a leading innovator in key composites end-markets, including transportation, aeronautics, automation and wind energy. Teaming up with Messe Frankfurt, Inc. means a strong presentation of technical textiles and composites solutions that will drive both industries forward.

Among the highlighted composites sectors for JEC Americas 2014 will be:

  • Automotive: Projected to see continued growth fueled by demand for lightweight materials, automotive is a key part of transportation, by far the largest composites end-user sector in the Americas.
  • Aeronautics: Representing six percent of the overall composites market, aeronautics is a crucial end-market for composites innovation due to the drive for lightweight and high strength materials.
  • Infrastructure: One of the top three growth industries for composites, infrastructure applications are expected to continue to see strong expansion driven by population growth, urbanization and a growing middle class. New materials offer improved performance for key applications in buildings, roads and bridges.

JEC Group predicts strong growth for the Americas composites industry through 2018 as the result of macro trends that are generating demand for advanced composites across multiple sectors. Projected growth of the overall market for composites, which totaled $38 billion for America in 2012, is expected to continue to exceed expectations going forward. This expansion is being driven by investments in new and refreshed infrastructure, sustainability initiatives including wind energy generation, energy conservation in the automotive and aerospace industries and rapid urbanization.

JEC Americas 2014 will fulfill one of the organization’s key missions of sharing leading-edge innovations within the composites community. The event will cover every aspect of mass production, from raw materials to process. The preliminary program features sessions on lightweight technical composites structures in aeronautics; advanced composites solutions for the automotive sector; and challenges and solutions for mass production. JEC Group will issue a finalized program in March 2014.

The location of JEC Americas 2014 being in Atlanta, places it in the heart of the manufacturing industry in the United States. Moreover, Atlanta is in close proximity to a vast scientific network, with more than 30 universities nearby, including Georgia Tech.

The JEC Americas Composites Show will also allow JEC to provide its expertise on value-added services, such as the Business Meetings Program – which arranges meetings with pre-selected companies – or the Job Center, where visitors and exhibitors can post job openings and résumés.

Innovation is the key to JEC’s activities, and the JEC Americas Innovation Awards program will honor the best new products, processes and applications in the composites industry. This highly acclaimed program has already awarded honors to more than 700 companies and their partners throughout the world at ceremonies in Paris, Shanghai, Mumbai, Singapore and Boston. The winners and the laureates will exhibit their best composites solution at the Innovation Showcase during JEC Americas 2014.

JEC Group represents, promotes and helps to grow composites markets – such as transportation, automotive, building and construction, marine, consumer goods, aviation/aerospace and wind energy – by providing networking and world-class information services. Its globally renowned JEC Europe Composites Show & Conferences (49th session in 2014) is four times larger than any other composites exhibition in the world. In addition, the JEC Asia Composites Show & Conferences (7th edition in 2014) is the largest global composites conference targeting the Asia-Pacific market.
