Singapore, Country of Honor at JEC Asia 2014

JEC Group, the world’s leading professional organization for the composite materials sectors, is announcing another exceptional JEC Asia Composites Show and Conferences for its 7th annual session, celebrating Singapore as Country of Honor.


Two Singaporean champions of composites will receive a JEC Innovation Award, the prestigious program promoting best composites innovation breakthroughs:

  • Hope Technik, in the Compression Molding category
  • Republic Polytechnic, in the Academic category

Tong-Earn Tay, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS will also receive a Life-Achievement Award.


JEC Asia 2014 showcases the latest Singaporean innovative academic projects!

Singapore has developed a very innovative approach in the academic field to expand a talents base that meet the needs of industry, and establishes itself as an R&D hub. This is a strong competitive advantage for industrial companies and businesses” indicates Mrs. Frédérique Mutel, JEC Group President and CEO.

The Live Demo Zone and the Innovation Corner will indeed showcase composite parts and products, among which the Singaporean Universities’ projects in automotive will be well represented:

  • Race car from the National University of Singapore’s Formula Society of Automotive Engineering (NUS FSAE)
  • SunSPEC 3 solar car from Singapore Polytechnic
  • Electric EVA Car, specifically designed as a taxi for tropical megacities, with a monocoque structure made entirely of carbon fibre reinforced polymer. The car is developed by TUM Create, the joint research programme between Technische Universität München (TUM) in Germany and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.

The 4 times Formula 1 World Champion Alain Prost will enable registered visitors to discover automotive innovations in a different way on Wednesday, November.19, 2014! A debate on High-Tech Composites in Automotive and Achievement will follow at 1.30 pm!

Singapore and its region are at the heart of key composites application markets, with preeminent composites companies located in Singapore” Mrs. Mutel says. Next November 17-19, 2014, they will display at the Singaporean pavilion their expertise in composites materials during 3 days of Networking opportunities and Knowledge sharing. Asian must-attend matchmaking event in the composites sector, it will once again gather exhibitors and visitors from all over the world, including no less than 50 different nationalities!
