SETEC 08 - CFRP : the cost down solution for top performance

SETEC '08 - 08 - CFRP - cost down solution for top performance -will be held in the Augsberg Congress & Exhibition Center, Ausber, Germany, on September 2008 from 18 to 19.

SETEC 08 will be organized based on a streight forward teaming and sponsoring provided by the following organisations and companies: IHK Schwaben, Stadt Augsburg,  Carbon Composites, Eurocopter, EADS Military, SGL Carbon, Hitco Carbon Composites,  MT-Aerospace and Xperion.

In the papers to be presented at SETEC 03/-08 evidence will be provided that today’s CFRP
advanced composite structures present an inherent „cost down advantage“ compared to the traditional layout and manufacturing solutions for composite structural components. This
applies not only for the aerospace and space needs but also in a large field of earth or sea bound applications which are manufactured in industrial volumes.

It is now recognised that today’s leading industries have largely accepted the technical advantages of CFRP structural components compared to traditional material solutions which is demonstrated by a strong increase of the requirement for carbon fibers of all available grades, worldwide. This situation demands a positive trend to keep the costs of carbon fibers under strong control to enable advanced component manufacturing industry to satisfy the expectations on an extended field of application, arising from the need to „get the cost down“.
