New cobalt-free AOC resin has earned certification by NSF International

New Vipel® F010-H2O-00 vinyl ester from AOC is certified to NSF/ANSI 61: Drinking Water System Components-Health Effects by NSF International, making it easier for customers to manufacture products for potable water applications.  The resin’s cobalt-free formulation also gives it superior corrosion resistance for applications that contain sodium hypochlorite, or bleach.

ICCO Composites: making profiles smart

Leading European pultruded profile company ICCO Composites is participating in the DECID2 Project for the creation of smart profiles. The project involves a dozen partners, including manufacturers, laboratories and the EMC2 competitive cluster all working together to create a demonstration footbridge with a double structural health diagnostics capability using embedded optic fibres and ultrasonic sensors.

New materials for lightweight automotive applications

Together with its partners Bekaert (Belgium) and voestalpine Plastics Solutions (Netherlands), BASF is now working on the development of thermoplastic components that are reinforced with steel cord fabrics and produced by means of injection molding.

Capital injection, large orders, and strengthening of the management team offers NPSP the opportunity to accelerate on its successful growth path.

Last month, a consortium of Technology Revolution Fund, Triodos Bank and two informal investors together invested 0.6 million Euro in NPSP. This allows NPSP to take important steps in the field of robotics, patents and licensing and market development and thus grow to a turnover of 10 million euro’s in the coming years.

Bayer MaterialScience develops polyurethane system for even more energy-efficient vehicles

Demand for lightweight construction systems in the automotive industry is now at an all-time high, with the aim being to cut fuel consumption, costs and CO2 emissions. According to VCD Verkehrsclub Deutschland, reducing the weight of a vehicle by 100 kilograms lowers fuel consumption by 0.5 liters over a distance of 100 kilometers and cuts carbon dioxide emissions by 1.2 kilograms over the same distance. Lightweight structures are now more important than ever given the trend toward future-oriented drive technologies such as electric mobility.
