Product Manager

Scott Bader is a leading manufacturer within the Chemical Industry producing Polyester and Alkyd Resins as well as Gelcoats and Water Based Polymers from 5 manufacturing sites across the world. Today it is a £140 million multinational chemical company, employing over 550 people worldwide.

Scott Bader Composites is the largest division within Scott Bader. It manufactures and sells, under the globally recognised Crystic® brand, a wide range of unsaturated polyester resins, compounds and gelcoats, DCPD blend resins, Vinyl Ester resins, and Crestapol® high performance resins, plus a range of specialty products; epoxy bonding gelcoats, pigments, barrier coats, skincoats, tooling products and marine structural adhesives. Our extensive product range is used in a wide variety of demanding composite applications from luxury yachts to sewage pipes; our key markets are: marine, pipes and pipe relining, transportation, building and wind energy.
All products are developed in-house by our R&D team, supported with technical service. We also distribute for leading suppliers a wide range of reinforcements and ancillary products.
Scott Bader is a common ownership company, which means that Scott Bader Commonwealth Limited (a registered charity) holds the shares of Scott Bader Company Limited in trust on behalf of the employees. The employees have a democratic right to become involved, influence and decide important issue regarding the major changes to the environment and conditions under which they work.


JOB PURPOSE
To grow the business and manage on a day to day basis a section of the European Performance & Specialty product range, where the Product manager has responsibility and accountability for a section of the product range.

To support the European Product Manager, Specialty Products in the management of the full range of performance and specialty products, including the implementation of product and market strategies, on a pan-European basis or globally.

To work with R & D on product development and with the Commercial team, providing effective sales tools and support, strategic business trend analysis, market sector analysis and market research, plus marketing and promotional output as needed by the Composites business.

To support marketing activities across Europe and globally with Specialty products working closely with Business development and Commercial teams in both Europe and globally where needed across the Scott Bader Group.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The role holder should have some previous work experience in a marketing / product management, customer support or a commercial role (sales or business development), preferably within a technical sector (ideally composites or chemical industry) in a company of a similar size.

The role holder must have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, ideally with experience of working in a multi-national or multi-cultural environment, preferably within Europe.

Self motivated individual who is able to use their initiative and work on assigned objectives with minimum supervision.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
The role holder should be min 2.2 degree level qualified, preferably in a technical subject
(Chemistry, Physics, Chemical engineering, Material Science).

Preferable to also have an additional Business / Management/ Marketing qualification (Marketing Diploma/MBA/ Management Diploma) or be working towards this level.
