Bcomtesting expands with added capacity and new tests
Bcomtesting, which provides physical testing services to the composites and industries, announced an expansion of size and services.
Based in Wake Forest, NC, Bcomtesting evaluates mechanical and physical properties of composites and plastics for both fabricators and suppliers to those industries The company has increased its physical size with a 40 percent expansion of its lab space. Included in the expansion are new testing capabilities through the purchase of new equipment.
Bcomtesting now provides IZOD Impact and Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) testing for customers within these two industries.
Bcomtesting offers a wide variety of testing capabilities with a specialization in polymer and composites evaluation. Bcomtesting performs an extensive number of tests under specific standards. While the array of tests offered differs in type and complexity, a brief summary of the most common tests conducted includes:
• Tensile Testing
• Flexural Testing
• Compression
• Shear
• Hardness
• Glass-to-Resin Ratios
• Izod Impact
• Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT)
The expansion of space and capabilities is expected to be completed by December 2005.
Bcomtesting offers state-of-the-art physical and mechanical testing services at a fraction of the cost of most labs. The staff at Bcomtesting bring hands-on experience to the job, with know-how in the original production of composites and other construction materials. Each Bcomtesting engineer has a minimum of 10 years experience in testing composites and polymers. All staff are knowledgable in the use of fixtures and new testing method designs.
In addition to testing, Bcomtesting also offers testing fixtures at competitive prices without sacrificing quality.
Higher Testing Standards
To provide greater value for customers, Bcomtesting evaluates twice as many specimens as required by ASTM standards for mechanical properties, providing better statistical distribution of the materials tested. Bcomtesting’s cost per specimen is roughly 50% less than that of competing testing companies for mechanical properties and 18% less for physical properties determination.
Years of experience working with some of the world’s leading manufacturers gives Bcomtesting personnel and management a unique perspective on customers’ needs and expectations. Bcomtesting is committed to continuous improvement by adding new testing equipment on a monthly basis.
