RS Technologies singled out at the ACE competition
At the Awards for Composites Excellence (ACE) ceremony, RS Technologies received an award for the most creative application of composite materials with its innovation, the RStandard™ modular composite utility pole. The 23-meter-high pole, which is made with RS Technologies' own patented polyurethane VersionTM resin and proprietary filament winding process, was displayed in the ACE Competition area at the Composites 05 tradeshow.
Version is a styrene-free polyurethane thermoset resin that is superior to all traditional resins in performance and characteristics. The resin not only has unique engineered design capabilities, it is also very price competitive with traditional resins such as polyesters and vinylesters.
The cutting-edge resin is very adaptable and can be used in a variety of processes and applications. It provides superior performance, both in production processes and in finished goods. This has been confirmed by third-party testing. Products manufactured with the resin have a greater strength-to-weight ratio and improved impact resistance, meaning that less fibre reinforcement is required to produce parts of equal or greater strength than with traditional resin systems. This translates into a significant cost-saving advantage for the manufacturer.
Version is being used successfully in the RS proprietary filament winding, pultrusion, and reaction injection moulding processes. The unique proprietary technology necessary for winding, die and moulding applications is developed entirely in-house.
