Simex receives an innovation award for its work
Late last October, Simex Technologies – the only company in Canada to produce prepregs – had its work recompensed by the 2005 Regional Innovation Award for new technologies given out by Quebec’s Manufacturers and Exporters Association, which is a member of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association and of the Canadian National Research Centre (CNRC).
After a period of intensive R&D, the Company succeeded in creating several high performance prepreg called Simprex, based on a vinyl ester resin. In 2001, a U.S. patent was obtained followed by patents from Canada and Europe in 2005.
Simex Technologies Inc., incorporated in 1999, was formed with the objective of developing a high performance composite material (Prepreg) that was not epoxy–based but (however) has superior characteristics.
Simprex has a long life cycle (1 year at 68°F), a short moulding time (10 - 20 minutes at 250°F), and a lower price.
The product was launched in 2004 and since then the Company has received inquiries from around the world and developed a strong international customer base. Over 90% of its sales are to export markets including China.
