World's largest composite trimaran under construction

trimaran

At 40m / 131’ Banque Populaire V will be the largest trimaran in the VPLP fleet equipped with three rudders, curved foils and a transversally canting, rotating wing mast.

When the boat is ultimately launched it will be the longest trimaran in the world. France-based CDK Composites will be responsible for putting the more complicated composite applications together such as the crossbeams and mainsheet track beam. The main hull will be sub-contracted to JMW Industries.

Designed for Pascal Bidégorry by Vincent Lauriot Prevost, the trimaran will begin construction in January 2007 with a launch date set for mid 2008. This 10M€ investment marks a 17 year relationship between the sponsor and the sea which has clearly delivered the media attention desired.

Bidégorry plans to attack the major records aboard his new racing machine starting with the Jules Verne Trophy in winter 2008.
