Atp's marion composites division named new nose radome supplier.
Advanced Technical Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATPX - news), announced today that its Marion Composites division has been awarded a contract as a new supplier of nose radomes for the Boeing 747-400, 757 and Next-Generation 737 airplane programs by Boeing Commercial Airplanes of Seattle, Wash.
Preparation for radome production begins immediately, with contractual deliveries slated to begin in January 2002 and continuing through 2004. The contract provides for the manufacture and delivery of several hundred nose radome assemblies over three years.
In preparation for this contract award, Marion Composites demonstrated its manufacturing capability by qualifying for Boeing specification 5317, a requirement of all composites suppliers to Boeing. Approval has been granted for high and low temperature resin systems on fiberglass reinforcements in laminate and honeycomb sandwich configurations.
Nose radomes provide an aerodynamic fairing, environmental protection, and microwave transparency for enclosed radar systems, providing critical weather and ground mapping data for the airplanes. Radome functional performance is achieved through composite design features, including selected materials and processes which assure high levels of structural and environmental performance, as well as optimization of radar transmission characteristics.
"Safe Harbor'' Statement Under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995: This press release includes forward-looking statements regarding the present intentions and expectations of management of ATP such as ``The contract provides for the manufacture and delivery of several hundred nose radome assemblies over three years.'' Certain factors beyond ATP's control could cause results to differ materially from those in these forward-looking statements. Risk factors include general market conditions, dependence on the aerospace and defense industries, the level of military expenditures and competition in the markets for ATP's products, and are more fully described in filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
