IDI Supplies Insulative Thermoset Composites for Vollrath Food Service Trays 

A IDI Composites International's Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) has been selected by The Vollrath Company for its Miramar™ Templates. These templates are inserted in the openings in stations that display hot and cold foods in buffet tables and cafeterias. IDI’s material has excellent insulative and corrosion-resistant properties as well as molded-in color, making it ideal for use in the food service industry.

IDI’s BMC offers excellent heat retention, making the heating system more energy efficient and easier to control. This insulative property of the material also makes it cool to the touch, and therefore safer for both servers and customers. The IDI BMC also has corrosion-resistant properties, allowing it to withstand extended heat-exposure and multiple cycles in commercial dishwashers, and provides sound dampening properties that help quiet the clatter often heard in cafeterias or buffet lines.

“The BMC component has made our Miramar Pans and Templates offering one of the most successful products we’ve introduced in recent years,” says Paul Egbert, Vollrath’s Vice President of Marketing.

Available in black and beige, the BMC Miramar templates are designed to suit various needs, with different size and shape cut-outs available for adapting to custom serving trays and soup bowls. The templates are also available as flat surfaces that cover station openings so that pots, pans, or bowls can be placed on top.
