Owens Corning expands its capacity in Texas
Owens Corning announced on April 21, 2008 plans to further invest in the composite materials industry in the Americas by expanding glass fiber reinforcement capacity at its Amarillo, Texas, facility in 2008. The expansion will increase the company's ability to meet market demand in North America for Advantex® single-end roving products -- highly engineered composite materials for multiple high-performance applications.
"Our OCV Reinforcements division is investing in the future of the North American composites industry so that we can meet the growing market demand for glass fiber reinforcement products," said Chuck Dana, president of Composite Solutions. "This expansion will ensure the local supply of Owens Corning Advantex® single-end roving products for our customers in the Americas, while improving manufacturing productivity."
The expansion of the Amarillo, Texas, facility will increase its capacity to produce single-end roving products by about 40 percent. Advantex® single-end roving products provide superior performance over standard "E" glass, the most-used glass for reinforcements, in highly corrosive applications like pipes, tanks, grating, cooling towers, and others servicing the energy, mining, infrastructure, and industrial end-use markets.
