LM Glasfiber doubles North American capacity with the grand opening of its new regional headquarters and blade production facility.

LM Glasfiber has officially inaugurated on October 28th 2008 its new North American headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas. Over the next five years, LM Glasfiber plans to employ more than 1,000 people in its Little Rock operations.

North America is and will remain the most important market for wind energy in the years to come, and LM Glasfiber is showing strong faith in the market by inaugurating the company’s fourth facility and new regional headquarters in North America.

With the facilities in Little Rock LM Glasfiber will roughly be doubling its North American capacity, once the ramp-up is completed. The Little Rock operations have already created more than 630 jobs locally, and this is expected to increase to a total of 1,000 jobs. The production halls of the newest facility have the capacity to handle even the largest blades made by LM, which measure 61.5 meters.

“The grand opening of our fourth facility in North America takes place at a time when there is a bipartisan agreement that wind is a cost-efficient, reliable and clean source of energy. Expectations are that the global capacity of installed wind power will double in less than ten years. America needs to utilize the energy which is at its fingertips to become less dependent on foreign oil. The wind industry offers an opportunity to diversify the energy portfolio by capitalizing on this free, clean and infinite resource while showing respect for the environment,” says LM Glasfiber CEO Roland Sundén in connection with the Little Rock facility grand opening.

The Little Rock blade production facility is the 13th LM Glasfiber factory and the fourth on the North American continent where factories already were established in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1999 and Gaspé, Québec in 2006.
