FormaShape wins Deloitte's Canadian Innovation Award
The Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) has named FormaShape, one of market leaders in the design and manufacture of fiberglass reinforced plastics (FRP) for architectural fascia products, winner of the Deloitte’s Canadian Innovation Award for Productivity Enhancement. The award was presented to FormaShape, at CME’s annual Canadian Innovation Awards held in Toronto.
The Deloitte’s Canadian Innovation Award for Productivity Enhancement recognizes innovative excellence in improving overall productivity through the application of LEAN processes.
Commenting on the award, Peter Jeffrey, President of FormaShape said, “This is a great honor and we couldn’t be more delighted, especially as this recognizes the dedicated and hard work of all our employees.”
“In recent years, our Company has been through some major cultural and strategic changes, not least of which was the adoption of LEAN manufacturing principles. As part of this process, we have consistently tried to find new and better ways to do things, whether it is innovation in both products and processes, to enhance quality, to reduce waste and therefore the cost of our products, increase productivity, increase safety for our employees as well as raise the morale of our employees. With the active involvement of each and every one of our employees, we have developed an environment at FormaShape in which innovation in the pursuit of LEAN principles is encouraged and nurtured. This award is a major endorsement of all our efforts, and we thank the judges for their support and recognition,” he concluded.
"The winners of the Canadian Innovation Awards are models of excellence for others to emulate," said CME's VP of public affairs Jeff Brownlee. "We live in a competitive world, but nothing gives Canadians a greater sense of pride when Canadians take on the world and win."
Former Minister of Industry, Finance, Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister John Manley emceed the event: "Recognizing the innovative excellence of Canadian companies is a critical part of furthering Canada's innovation agenda," said Manley. "We need to celebrate Canadian success stories to inspire others to take the necessary risks to bring Canada in the innovative forefront."
