Next generation cured in place pipe

Cure in place pipe (CIPP) or relining offers local governments and municipalities the ability to repair and rehabilitate damaged or leaking sewer pipes in a very fast, efficient and economic way. With this technique there is no need to break up streets to repair sewer systems, meaning no disturbance of traffic and no additional environmental pressure due to traffic congestion. With this relining method, a liner is impregnated with a resin which is then inserted in the damaged or leaking sewer pipe and cured via steam or water. After curing, a new composite sewer pipe is created within the old pipe, which is even stronger and longer lasting than the original pipe.

Already today Insituform® is delivering an important contribution to our environment, with longer lasting solutions and reduced traffic congestion. Insituform®, together with DSM, introduce a new product based on a resin as the next step towards a cleaner and better environment, Compared to the existing CIPP solutions Insituform® greenliner™ is even more environmentally friendly.

Insituform® greenliner™
The Insituform® greenliner™ is a new relining solution that compared to existing solutions is smell friendly, as it doesn’t contain styrenated resins. This is a big benefit in industrial, urban or civilized areas, where smell inconvenience needs to be minimized as much as possible.

The Insituform® greenliner™ is based on the ATLAC® PREMIUM resin from DSM. Compared to existing resin technologies this new resin only consists of environment friendly, label free components. ATLAC® PREMIUM is able to combine today’s strict performance requirements of cured in place pipe solutions with an increased contribution to our environment.

First successful installation
In Heerlen, a big municipality in the South of Holland Insituform® successfully installed their first greenliner™ product. Approximately 1.4 km of sewer was rehabilitated with diameters between 300 and 450 mm. In six days, fifteen liners were inserted in the damaged sewers and cured with steam, resulting in a rehabilitated sewer with an expected life time of over 50 years!

The municipality required a CIPP solution without any smell inconvenience for citizens. With greenliner™, Insituform® was able to deliver this and more! By using the ATLAC® PREMIUM resin, smell inconvenience for citizens during and after installation was avoided. In addition to the smell benefits, the resin eliminates the potential risk for ground and water pollution. There is no special restriction for handling and storage which further illustrates the contribution to people and planet.
