Ashland helps customer achieve EPA environmental award

Suzlon Rotor Corp. was recently awarded U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognition for implementing a program from Ashland Distribution, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc.. The company received the EPA’s “Design for the Environment” formulator initiative award for its use of U.S. Polychemical Corp.'s Acrastrip® cleaning fluid instead of traditional acetone.

Acrastrip cleaning fluid is available exclusively through Ashland Distribution, and provides a safe non-flammable option for industrial cleaning in composite applications. A program designed by Ashland helps customers achieve EPA recognition for their environmental stewardship efforts when they switch to Acrastrip cleaning fluid from traditional acetone. It was through this program that Suzlon, a worldwide wind turbine manufacturer, received recognition from the EPA. The award was presented June 30.

The EPA recognizes Acrastrip cleaning fluid as a “Design for the Environment” product, and as such, customers who have successfully implemented a program with Acrastrip cleaning fluid can be recognized for that achievement. "Customers who use Acrastrip cleaner show a solid commitment to environmental stewardship," said Robert Craycraft, president, Ashland Distribution.
