Vixen Composites to locate its manufacturing headquarters in Indiana
Composite panel products maker, Vixen Composites, LLC announced on January 20, 2010 that it will locate its manufacturing headquarters in Elkhart, Indiana, USA, creating up to 34 new jobs by 2012.
The newly-established firm, which specializes in composite structural and exterior panels for the recreational vehicle and commercial trailer industries, among others, will invest more than $6 million in machinery and equipment to lease 98,000 square feet of space at 2965 LaVanture Place in Elkhart.
“Two new companies bringing jobs to Elkhart in the last couple of weeks tells me that businesses continue to take notice of Indiana’s dedicated workforce and strong business climate,” said Governor Mitch Daniels. “Our work doesn’t stop here; we will continue our pursuit of new companies to create more jobs for Hoosiers.”
Vixen Composites plans to begin hiring production, management and quality control associates in the third quarter of this year as improvements are finalized at the site.
“A combination of factors combined to make Elkhart the best choice for our primary location. Excellent market access to serve our customers, the availability of suitable facilities, and an overall pro-business climate were deciding factors to bring our business to Elkhart,” said Gregg Fore, Vixen president.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Vixen Composites, LLC up to $300,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $20,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The city of Elkhart has preliminarily approved additional property tax phase-in.
“We are delighted to have Vixen Composites start their business in Elkhart. Like Dometic, like THINK North America and many others, Vixen brings the types of jobs we want to see in our community – high tech, high wage jobs. Companies continue to prove that they have faith in this community and its ability to overcome these tough economic times,” said Mayor Dick Moore.
Vixen Composites’ announcement that it will site its manufacturing headquarters in Elkhart comes just two weeks after Norwegian electric car maker, THINK, announced that it will also locate its North American production facility in the city, adding more than $43 million in investment and creating more than 400 jobs by 2013.
