IComp was established in 2010 under the EI/IDA Technology Centre initiative. It is hosted by the University of Limerick (UL) and works in partnership with University College Dublin (UCD). Academia and industry are brought together within IComp to focus on the critical requirements of a number of industrial sectors. The combined resources and facilities at the University of Limerick, including those at the Materials and Surface Science Institute (MSSI) at UL, and UCD provides a suite of excellence for IComp members. These include, and are not limited to, an extensive analytical laboratory, clean rooms, polymer processing, automated tow placement, physical and mechanical testing, surface analysis, thermal analysis, and support infrastructure. This extensive range of equipment facilitates private and publicly funded collaborative research as well as a comprehensive range of analytical services for industry. Further specialised equipment is available through their industrial members.
