PIEP is a private non profit-making research and development organization. It was established in 2001, on the initiative of the leading Portuguese plastics and mould making companies, and in close co-operation with the Department of Polymer Engineering of the University of Minho (DEP-UM), a national reference and leading group in the polymer engineering field. Focused on the research and development of innovative applications in the polymer engineering field with rapid response to the market, PIEPs activity is supported by a strong technical and scientific infrastructure, as well as a 3,000 square metre up-to-date research facility with state-of-the-art equipment. PIEPs R&D is spread across a broad field of polymer engineering. The development of new materials, the design with composites, the development of innovative products from concept to production, and the development of cost effective processing technologies, are a just a few examples.
