11.05 XAM: a city vehicle made by vegetable fiber

The XAM (eXtreme Automotive Mobility) project was born in 2010. The project is focused on the development of a hybrid urban-vehicle that took part at the Shell Eco-marathon. The body, some interior parts, the seats and the instrument panels were made by vegetable fiber composites, recyclable. Linen fibers were chosen considering their mechanical characteristics and their compatibilities with resins, recyclable too, present on the market. Il May 2011, Xam won the Design Award.
