Location

Singapore is the smallest country in Southeast Asia, and is located at the southern tip of the Malayan Peninsular between Malaysia and Indonesia.

 

Time zone

Singapore is 8 hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +8). It shares the same time zone as Malaysia.

 

Climate

Singapore's climate is characterized by uniform temperature and pressure, abundant rainfall and high humidity all year round. Classified as a tropical rainforest climate, Singapore has no distinct seasons, with temperature ranging from 22°C to 34°C.

 

Languages

English is the main language of business and administration in Singapore. Most Singaporeans, however, being fluent their ethnic mother tongues such as Chinese, Malay and Tamil, are bilingual.

 

Taxes

There is a Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 7% imposed on goods and services. Commonly, service charge of 10% and other government levies are applicable when patronizing restaurants and hotels.
