China Composites Expo - JEC Innovation Awards winners

For several years now, JEC Group has been forming alliances with the Chinese composites associations, notably the China FRP Institute, organiser of the China Composites Expo trade show.
Frédérique Mutel, JEC General Manager indicated, "Since JEC had the expertise for technological intelligence on innovation, it suggested to the China FRP Institute that Chinese innovation should be assessed via a competition and awards, a process started in 2005".

For the third year running, this programme was a huge success and 12 Chinese composites solutions were awarded for their innovation, in 2 categories: Raw Materials and Applications.

In the Raw Materials category, the winners are:
- 3-D Fabric manufacturing technology from the Textile College of Donghua University of Shanghai;
- Continuous glass filament mat from Danyang Zhongya Glass Fiber Company Ltd;
- Turane resin from DSM Composite Resins AG;
- GF / PPF Compounding yard from Taishan Fiber Glass Inc. in partnership with the East China University of Science and Technology.

In the Applications Category, 8 particularly innovative applications drew the attention of the jury and the winners are:
- ECV Tabletop from Beijing TBHY Composites Institute in partnership with Dongruan Philips Medical Equipment System Corp. Ltd;
- High-Pressure Ring Vessel of Filament Winding from the Harbin FRP Institute;
- SD 1688-1 self-up-righting salvage patrol boat from Shenzhen Haisibi Boat Development Company Ltd. In partnership with the Harbin Industry University, the Dalian Maritime Affairs University and the Shipping Science Research Center of China;
- FRP poles from Jiangsu Jiuding New Materials Company Ltd;
- Composite Post Insulator for 1000KV UHV Transmission Line from Wuhan University of Technology, School of Materials Science and Engineering in partnership with National Net Wuhan High Voltage Institute;
- B757-200 Aircraft carbon brake disc from Xi’an Aerospace Composites Research Institute in partnership with Xian Super-cyber Science & Tech Corp. Ltd;
- High-power Radar Dome from Shanghai FRP Research Institute;
- SINOMA 40.2 Wind Blade from SINOMA-TECH Wind Power Blades Company Ltd.
