Speakers testimonials

JEC ASIA 2009

Vestas, Dr Srikanth Narasimalu, Technical Director (Singapore): “The JEC Conference is the best as far as composites are concerned. It is very focused and covers all sorts of topics on advanced materials, composites and related technologies. The conference gives us a way of instilling awareness in the company, which is remarkable in my opinion. There is no other conference that can replace JEC. I would say this is the only conference in Asia that talks about products and applications under the same roof, while sharing knowledge in the fastest way. This will help to close the gap between innovation and application.

DLR, Martin Wiedeman, Director & Head of the Institute (Germany): “The aim of my presentation was to give an idea about the future maintenance process of CRFP structures, which is very different from the maintenance process for metal structures. It is an opportunity to create awareness on the one hand and to have open discussions with experts on the other hand. We can work together to establish the automated processes that we need. The JEC conference provides such opportunities, which is why I am very interested in returning”.

Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Hussain, Lecturer, School of Manufacturing Engineering (Malaysia):“JEC is the best forum as we can interact with people from all over the world. They are experienced and know a lot about composite manufacturing processes. So this is a chance to interact with the global community. They have one purpose, namely to produce cost-effective components with less scrap. How can we reduce variations in our processes? And how can we come up with reliable components with the best quality? I am very grateful, very thankful to the JEC team who has given me the chance to speak with experienced people from around the globe”.

Nanocyl, Thibaud Vaugien, Structural Composites Sales and Marketing Manager: “The key to carbon nanotubes in the aerospace sector is their multi-functionality. This is a unique feature of this technology. Carbon nanotubes will lead to many breakthroughs in aerospace applications. It was important to say this at the JEC Forums because people need to realize that these solutions are industrial, not just a lab dream. It is all about making industrial applications reality”.

Henkel, Rich Beck, Global Market Manager (Germany): “The future of wind blades will mean there will be more demand for durability; a 20-year lifespan is expected. Today’s adhesives might not be the most competitive at the moment, so we came up with a few ideas, one of which is a polyurethane system that needs GE approval. The industry is currently using lots of epoxy and vinylester resins and adhesives. We definitely think we can bring these customers some potential value, help them save money and improve their output. That’s the main reason why we are here today”.

TPI, Stephen Nolet, Principal Engineer (USA): “For me, it is just a pleasure to be able to educate more people to cross-pollinate ideas and trade information so that we can expand our industry. What we need is the technology and information to be disseminated in a way that more people are applying these technologies in a more robust and safe manner”.

Hanyang University, Dr Sung K. Ha, Dpt. of Mechanical Engineering, Director of the Structures and Composites Lab (South Korea): “This is a great exhibition and conference. We can share our experience while exchanging knowledge and information. I really recommend that everybody come to JEC and share the vision of a greener global world”.

JEC PARIS 2009

"It was a pleasure to be the moderator at the Automation Forum. The presentations were very interesting and the discussions were also very enriching. I think the forum provides a very good platform to make contacts in composite automation. It was the first time JEC hosted an automation forum and it was a complete success. My desire for next year is: continue this forum"
Jens Kühl, CFK Valley Stade, Head of Operations & Development, Composite Technology Center Stade

"We were very happy with the show. The organisation was good. The forum was interesting and we would definitely re-do one next year if it is possible.
The showcase was also a good driving force to bring people to our stand. Overall a positive experience"

Michael Frieh, Business Development Director. Acell S.p.A.

"I greatly enjoyed being part of the forum. I think it was well organized and I was impressed by the number of people attending. At the moment, there are not many venues where composite technology for the wind energy sector can be demonstrated. In that sense, I believe there is an opportunity for a blade composite conference at the JEC"
Hoevel Bernd (Dow Deutschland GmbH & Co. OHG.) - 2009

"My personal feedback about the JEC Forum is that since the presentation we got many information requests of high tech innovative sme's. To my opinion, the forum addresses this kind of companies who are always looking for new processes and materials."
Hans Hoydonckx (TransFurans Chemicals)

"For MVC/MARCOPOLO participated this forum was very important, because this event was a great opportunity for talk about our experience in developing components in composites for automotive market. For me the most important was to learn with other companies and participants what this LAND TRANSPORT FORUM proportioned."
Gilmar Lima (MVC Marcopolo, General Director)

"The benefit of the forum is that the industry and the engineers who come and attend JEC get a broad overview of the current developments but also get a good outlook of the future in all kind of developments for the different industries."
Michael Sommer (Menzolit, Sales and Marketing Manager)

"I enjoyed working with JEC on this event [..]. I would like to pass on thanks from the EU FP7 BIOCOMP project to the JEC team for the opportunity to work in partnership on the excellent Biocomposites forum 2007. The organisation, communication and facilities of the event were all of high quality and the audience was high calibre as shown by the discussions generated. [...] it is always a pleasure to visit the excellent JEC Show."
Chris Hare (BIOCOMP, Project Manager)

"I was very pleased with the way the forum went. The presentations were of a good quality and this was demonstrated by the very lively debate that occurred after each presentation. The JEC forums offer a different opportunity to discuss technical matters. They are less formal than a conference allowing people to share their thoughts more easily but are of a sufficient size to communicate the topic to a wide range of interests. Coinciding these meetings with JEC is an efficient use of everyone’s time and travel budgets"
Rod Martin (MERL, CEO)

"Very interesting forum. It is always appreciable to bring its knowledge to a heterogeneous public: new applications for certain people, technological survey for others. I think that it would be interesting for the next forums "Natural Fibres" / "Biocomposites" to present a greater number of applications. For that, a special place in the auditorium could be also designed to present samples and parts carried out in these new materials."
Stéphane Laurent (Rettenmaier France, WPC Manager)
