JEC studied the Asia-Pacific market in order to underline the main trends and future prospects of the composites industry in this region.
It is important to note that Asia-Pacific will account for about 50% of the composites industry in 2015 while it represented 36% in 2005. This area, with a 10% annual growth, will represent 64% of the future worldwide value growth between 2005 and 2015.
In the shadow of increasing competition from Asian competitors, Western manufacturers face a strong challenge, especially parts processors. Their future lies in their capacity to expand commercially and industrially in Asia-Pacific. For example, China is becoming a key market for the aeronautics industry, a low cost sourcing factor and the origin of new competitors. Major airplane manufacturers are relocating manufacturing and engineering there to react to these stakes.
