This is a worldwide market survey dealing with the evolution and the potential of the composite materials industry from 2005 to 2015. The survey highlights the maturity of the composites industry which is growing at the same pace than the industrial GDP by continent in terms of volumes. It also has a niche positioning in some large mass-market industries. However, a higher penetration of composites does not seem possible before 2015, mainly due to cost issues. It shows that the industry employs about 550,000 employees and the market will have an annual growth in value at 5% per year from € 53 billions in 2005 to € 88 billions in 2015. The major trend is the rebalancing of markets and production sites in favor of Asia-Pacific.
