JEC Show Asia 2009 Report

JEC ASIA 2010

Exhibitors testify about their experience at JEC Show Asia 2009

BCH, Samir Gupta, Managing Director (India): “We exhibited and partnered with JEC for the first time last year. We have renewed the experience this year and hope to be here again in the future. Our first impression is that JEC is very specialized and focused on the composite industry. We made some very good contacts, were able to make our inquiries and feel confident in delivering what is required”.

Huntsman Advanced Materials, André Genton, President (Switzerland): “We are meeting a new kind of customer, a kind we do not meet at events like JEC Paris, such as electronic companies. We see a lot of potential customers coming from the chemical industry, and not only for applications. So it is not only a good platform for composites but also for peripheral activities around composites”.

Stanford University, Prof. Stephen W. Tsai (USA): “We congratulate JEC for making the investment as its show is, by far, the best organization available in any Asian country. Many others try to achieve the same level but they tend to operate on a shoestring budget. We appreciate that you’re working to the same standards as those applied in Paris. And you should be congratulated for this”.

National University of Singapore, Dr Tong Earn Tay (Singapore): “JEC Asia is very important as it showcases the latest products and technologies. This kind of show is not really available anywhere else. This is really THE exhibition and conference to attend”.

Modern Engineering Plastics, S. Srikant (India): “There are many more companies participating this year. We have been able to see new products and technologies. This is a great opportunity to understand and improve ourselves. It is really great and I appreciate the JEC Asia show”.

CNC Technics PVT, Ltd., Rahul Bandaru, Director (India): “We have been participating in JEC Paris since 2001 and this is our 2nd year in Singapore. It is definitively better than last year in terms of people coming. So yes, we intend to come every year from now on”.

DK Composites, Mohd Khairul Shahril B. Zakaria, Boat Marketing Executive (Malaysia): “We are very happy with the quality of the customers, the visitors, the participants and the organizer”.

Huntsman, Steen Weien Hansen, Vice President Asia Pacific: “I see a lot of diversity in terms of companies from different regions, from India, Japan, etc. We attended last year, we are here this year and we will be attending next year. It gives us an opportunity to meet new customers, to show our processes. I think the combination of the two – the Shanghai event and this event – is fully justified and we will be attending both in the future”.

Colan Australia, Michael Corfield, International Sales and Marketing Manager (Australia): “The JEC Singapore show has been a great way to meet customers and handshake with new and existing ones throughout Asia. We see the Asian region being very important to our market and generally important for the Australian market as well. So we think it is a great opportunity to support JEC Asia. We see it as a long-term market role for our company”.

Hexcel, Gérard Checkherdemian, Regional Sales Manager, Asia Pacific (France): “There is a lot to do in Asia and JEC is the proof of that. Especially with this exhibition. We are seeing more and more Asian companies coming and exhibiting. For us, it is really a chance to meet new customers and suppliers. So it is the right forum to come and exchange ideas. It is important that Hexcel be present at such an exhibition”.

CRC-ACS, Rowan Paton, Research Programme Leader (Australia): “The show is going very well. We have had lots of interesting discussions with people and we certainly intend to come again”.

Nanocyl, Thibaud Vaugien, Structural Composites Sales and Marketing Manager (Belgium): “We consider the Asian market as one of the top markets for our applications. It is very important to be present. We are not exhibitors this year because of time constraints but we will certainly be in the future. The show is of very good quality”.

Toyota Autobody, Dr Takuya Nishimura, Project Manager (Japan): “I tend to read a lot of articles from Europe, the US, Canada, etc. But in this show, I have found a lot of Asian companies doing a lot of research and development work, especially in China and India, where they have really big markets. I have had a good time at the show. I communicated with Asian, Australian, New Zealand, European and Canadian companies. It was really good to share time with them”.

BCH, Rikita Gupta, Executive Director (India): “We feel there is an excellent organization and every detail has been looked after. The dynamics are good even during the sessions. There are quality visitors and people who are thinking about the long term and the emerging markets”.

Sicomin, Philippe Marcovich, President (France): “My feeling is very good. We made a lot of contacts yesterday. People were open and looked at what we have, which I think it is good for Asia. Many contacts from India came and are interested in both our products and working with us, which is great. It is close to Thailand. Sicomin works with countries the world over and I think we will come back”.

Everise Crimson, Rusila Kamarulzamman (Malaysia): “The past two days have been great because people are showing a lot of interest. Some people have not even heard about the new fibre called kenaf. We have been explaining the properties of kenaf and how strong it can be. It can already be applied in the automotive industry and in computer products. JEC is doing a great job for us and for other people as well”.

UMECO, Bernard Twist, Export Sales Manager (UK): “JEC is our largest and most significant shop window for the composite market. As a company, we have been supporting the JEC Show in Paris for 25 years and when we heard that JEC Asia was starting its Asian operations, we had no hesitation about getting in and supporting JEC in Asia because South East Asia and Australasia are growth markets for us. We want to provide them with materials that Europe and North America have taken advantage of for many years”.

Suigeneris (China): “Many local manufacturers go to CCE in China but there are better suppliers at the JEC show, especially for exporters who would like to go to France and Singapore”.

Songhe, Sunsan Gao, Foreign Trade Department (China): “There are many domestic manufacturers in Shanghai. The JEC show brings together many people from all over the world, which gives us the chance to make offers worldwide and not only for domestic manufacturers in China”.

Huntsman Advanced Materials, André Genton, President (Switzerland): “We expect JEC to continue doing exactly what they have always done, that is to be the largest show in the region, just like it is the largest show in Europe. We want to make sure it will be the largest composite show in the region”.

UMECO, Bernard Twist, Export Sales Manager (Switzerland): “If I had two suggestions for JEC? I don’t know. I really think JEC is doing everything right. Many years ago, the world’s foremost composite show was in America. This is no longer the case. The world’s foremost show is now JEC in Paris and I think you would have to say JEC is doing everything right, which is why I am having trouble finding two suggestions for improvement!”.
