Numerical simulation and Product/Process optimisation of high performance composites by injection: application to the new Leap Jet Engine of Snecma/Safran.
The +Composites Project and the MODSI Unit of the Advanced Materials & Structures Department of the Public Research Centre Henri Tudor are pleased to invite you to the seminar entitled "Numerical simulation and Product/Process optimisation of high performance composites by injection: application to the new Leap Jet Engine of Snecma/Safran" given by Prof. Dr. Ing. François Trochu, Chair on Composites of High Performance, Center of Applied Research on Polymers and Composites, Montreal, Canada, and Invited professor at: School of Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering & Manufacturing ETH Zurich.
On Dr. François Trochu
Born in Montreal and former student of École Polytechnique, Paris, Professor Trochu obtained a master degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975 and a PhD in 1990 from École Polytechnique, Montreal, on finite element analysis and flows through random porous media. Professor in Mechanical Engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal since 1990, he has published over 100 papers in scientific journals. Professor Trochu works on the development, numerical simulation and optimisation of new Liquid Composite Molding (LCM) processes to manufacture high performance composites by resin injection through glass or carbon fibrous reinforcements. The original simulation software developed by F. Trochu’s team to simulate these processes has been used commercially since 1994 on a worldwide basis. Registered professional engineer in Quebec, member of the board of the Center of research on polymers and composites (CREPEC), he holds a Tier I - Canada Research Chair on high performance composites at Ecole Polytechnique, Montreal, and since 2005, an Industrial Research Chair on rapid composite manufacturing for automotive applications.
The event will take place on 24 January 2014 from 14:00 to 17:00, at Chambre des Métiers, 2 Circuit de la Foire Internationale, Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
