JEC World 2016 - Moldex3D will highlight advanced 3D CAE solutions for the development of composite products

To support the growing demand for lightweight product designs, the company has continuously extended its simulation portfolio for composite manufacturing. In the area of FRP production, it has pioneered the simulation capability for fibre concentration to further advance its simulation accuracy. Coupled with the simulation abilities for fibre orientation, fibre length (fibre breakage prediction) and fibre concentration, Moldex3D offers the market's most comprehensive simulation analyses to assist the design and manufacture of FRP parts.

In addition, numerous advanced solutions for composite manufacturing are introduced in the latest R14.0 version. Moldex3D Digimat-RP is a new feature that provides the ability for concurrent engineering of the moulding process and FRP part design for optimum performance. A new module for Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) employs True 3D CAE technology that can capture the full geometric details to accurately simulate the resin’s in-mould flow behaviour.

This allows for a rapid evaluation and optimization of the design and process parameters, such as resin flow patterns and vent locations. Also, draping analysis can be imported into Moldex3D’s overmoulding analysis to study the properties of orthotropic materials in composites and predict the warpage behaviour of the injection-moulded polymer parts for further product optimization.
