Airtech delivers on its commitment to customers to Reduce Touch Labour costs significantly with the new, huge CNC ply cutting machine in Airtech Europe. The machine with a 216 m² cutting bed enables Airtech to custom Cut & Kit products to fit perfectly over composite parts on the mould tool. This will significantly reduce moulding cycle times and improve part quality. By providing custom vacuum bags and kits for a wide variety of parts, Airtech helps customers to Reduce Touch Labour costs and allow for faster production cycle times. Savings vary depending on the complexity of the component being manufactured and the customers' internal labour rates, but cost reductions are achievable.
The new Beta Prepreg for composite tooling, which is the JEC 2011 Innovation Award finalist, is based on Henkel Benzoxazine resin and toughening technology. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 6 months with no loss of tack and delivers superior laminate properties compared to conventional epoxy and BMI systems. High glass transition temperature (218 °C) and service stability at high temperature ensures long tool life.
Also new from Airtech are the TB G48 carbon tooling boards. The TB G48 are cost effective high temperature carbon fibre tooling boards with a reformulated high Tg. 247 °C epoxy matrix to provide longer high temperature service life. The TB G48 can be used for mould support, jigs and fixtures, reducing tooling cost and improving performance.
Securlon® L750 is a multi-layer vacuum bag film that is designed for low cost commercial, marine, wind energy and low temperature applications. Wrightlon® 3700 is an inexpensive release film for applications like wind energy and marine where good performance is needed at lower cost. Wrightlon® 3700 releases easily from epoxy, polyester and vinyl ester resin systems. Available in P16 perforation style for infusion applications. Airtech provides the widest films in the industry, up to 12 m to reduce time and cost: Big Blue L100, Securlon® L500 and up to 7,1 m: Ipplon® KM1300, Securlon® L750 and Wrightlon® 7400.
