Founded on September 30, 2011, in Santiago (Chile), the Latin American Composite Materials Association (ALMACO) has already started planning the activities that it intends to accomplish over the next two years. Among them, it was agreed that the new association will organize a trade fair in the second half of 2013, in São Paulo, focusing on business and on strengthening the sector.

"We will gather the entire value chain and, especially, manufacturers and end users of composites. Until today, the events dedicated to our industry were mostly attended by suppliers of raw materials. We need to expand our range of action and demonstrate, in an organized and professional way, our ability to create solutions to the market in general”, says Gilmar Lima, president of ALMACO. He holds the same position in the Brazilian Composite Materials Association (ABMACO), entity responsible for the creation of ALMACO.

The trade fair will be made possible through the participation of all regional offices of ALMACO, which is headquartered in São Paulo – on the day of its foundation, ALMACO was established in Chile, chaired by Sabdiel Mella Aravena, general director of Fibrovent. “In the event in Santiago, we were approached by representatives from Argentinean companies willing to conduct the creation of ALMACO in that country”, says Lima. Colombia and Mexico should be the next to join.
