AVIC Changhe first AW109E aircraft body delivered

AVIC Changhe Aircraft Industry (Group) Company has successfully delivered the first frame of the AW109E body recently.

This marked the vigorously achievement of the cooperation between Changhe and its Italian partners - Agusta Westland. The overall industrial cooperation opened up the business channels from raw materials purchase, mold design and manufacturing, parts manufacturing, component assembly, fuselage assembly and delivery to test production line.  


Fuselage subcontract project involves the parts drawing number up to over 4500, over 2000 sets of parts tooling were designed and manufactured by Changhe.


Early as in 2006, the two sides started the complicated technical preparations. The delivery of the technical data, the clean-up decomposition, translation, cleanup and digestion of the preparation of the production BOM and Agusta technical standards and drawings took Changhe more than 5 years.


Full preparation developed a foundation for Changhe to overcome difficulties and achieves victory in the process.


AW109E is a versatile light twin helicopter, with a maximum takeoff weight of about three tons. It is known as the "Ferrari" in the helicopter. This tonnage is the world's best-selling product in the helicopters with annual sales of nearly 200. In addition to the body subcontract production cooperation, Changhe and Agusta Westland have also jointly funded a joint venture - Changhe Agusta Helicopter Co., Ltd. was set up in Jingdezhen. The scope of its business includes the assembly of the helicopter, flight test, sales and product support to customers. They have delivered a total of four CA109 helicopters to CCTV and the Beijing Public Security Bureau.
