Thanks to the results of last year's pre-study funded by the Swiss Space Center, Bcomp received two new grants from the Swiss Space Center and the European Space Agency (ESA) to further develop the powerRibs technology for space applications.

The project will aim at characterizing the properties of structures made with powerRibs as a function of temperature and strain rate, modelling its dynamic properties, developping the processing for large scale production and reaching space quality standards of the final composite parts.

Thanks to its combination of high stiffness and damping, major automotive OEMs see a potential for the technology to significantly reduce the weight of several automotive parts, simultaneously increasing the amount of bio-sourced material in today's cars.
