In order to boost technology innovation and energy saving in Chinese composite industry, to promote new products development and application, a new products area had been established since 2003 at China Composites Expo, especially the CCE-JEC Innovation Awards became a highlight when it was set up in 2005.

For the 14th year in a row, the CCE-JEC Innovation Awards Programme was a huge success. For 2018, 12 composites solutions were rewarded for their innovation by the jury.

For several years now, JEC Group has been forming alliances with the Chinese composites associations, notably the China FRP Institute, which organizes the China Composites Expo trade show.

Part 1 - RAW MATERIALS

Green Honeycomb - Avic
Green honeycomb is a kind of honeycomb core materials produced by using plant fiber paper as the raw materials. Its compression performance, shear performance and water migration performance are similar to those of traditional aramid fiber honeycomb. Due to the adding of plant fibers, it has better performance in damping and sound absorption compared with traditional honeycomb core materials. It is particularly suitable for use in interior finishing in airplanes and high-speed trains.

SYM35 Carbon fiber with high strength and high modulus - Zhongfu Shanying Carbon Fiber
SYM35, self-developed by Zhongfu-shenying with independent intellectual property rights, is known for high strength and high modulus. It is available in strength with more than 4900MPa, modulus with more than 340GPa. The process of SYM35 is based on dry-jet wet spinning technology, solving the engineering technical problem to expend production line from a hundred tons level to a kiloton level. Production capability of SYM35 can reach to 500t/a.

High-performance acrylate structure adhesive 1420F/1320/1830S - Hubei Huitian New Materials
Huitianxin high-performance acrylate adhesive is a dual-component acrylate structure adhesive that was listed in 2012. With the continuous development of research and development, several high-quality products that are suitable for different operating conditions for various new non-metallic composite materials:
- 1420F is a type of blue methacrylate gel with high toughness and moderate operating time. 
- 1320 is a type of high strength, medium and long operating time of methyl acrylate gel.
- 1830S in the color of gray, no need for metal bonding, high strength, high toughness, long operating time of methyl acrylate adhesive.

12m width vacuum bagging film LVBF600Y - Shanghai Leadgo-Tech
This product is recommended to be used in curing process below 150°C, mainly used in wind-energy industry. It is a kind of multilayer co-extruded nylon bagging film, has high strength and elongation. Tensile strength (MD): 60.6MPa, (TD): 68.8MPa ; Elongation (MD ): 471% ,(TD ): 528% .
Two national invention patents have been in the status of patent pending.
The product has been put into production and used in the large wind turbine blades production.

SMiLE-Next Generation Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Floor Module for E-mobility - Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) & Audi AG
The FRP floor modules were developed within the publicly funded research project SMiLE: System-Integrated Multi-Material Lightweight Design for E-Mobility. The aim was to optimize lightweight materials and manufacturing processes for future car body concepts in a comprehensive approach.
The publicly funded research project SMiLE is developing a detailed understanding of efficient lightweight construction using intelligent FRP-metal multi-material design. A central research focus is the use of fiber composites for complex, three-dimensional structural components in an automotive series production.

The oil pan assembly product with composite materials used in great horsepower diesel engine, developed by Beijing Sinoma Composites Auto Parts, uses glass fiber reinforced nylon material with density of 1.4g/cm3, which is heat-resistant, vibration-fatigue, oil-resistant and has good dimensional stability.
The product is lighter, oil resistant with good dimensional stability and accuracy. The oil pan product takes full advantage of the designability of composite materials, realizes the integration of multiple components, and achieves the goal of reducing processes and reducing costs. This product has the function of reducing vibration and reducing noise.
  • RTM one shot door - Schmuhl Composite Material Technology, Hangzhou

RTM one shot door
This product is used for vehicles like Audi A7, VW Toureg, Audi Q7... This is a complete SUV door component made of CFRP by RTP one-shot process. There is one moulding tool with inserts and reinforcements in it.

The high-strength steel and CFRP or GFRP hybrid materials developed by the company can be used in the battery pack shell, doors, and roofs of new energy automotive vehicles because of their high strength and light weight; the fuel vehicle engine peripheral parts (oil tanks, etc.). The shell sample molding and processing in Japan.

Sinoma75 is the first typhoon resistant type large blade for offshore area with wind exceeding class I. It is the breakthrough in the layout of timber products in coastal typhoon regions. Sinoma75 is fully independent design and development, its R&D and production process has condensed the enterprise's years of technical experience. It is also the highest MW grade installed offshore in China at present.

The composite transmission shaft is an important part of the transmission system. Its function is to transfer the torque and speed of the engine effectively. Compared with the metal transmission shaft, the composite transmission shaft has not only light mass but also fatigue and corrosion resistance, and less noise. Good vibration attenuation, high safety and reliability. Inner diameter roundness of composite transmission shaft ≦ 0.05mm;dynamic unbalance value ≦ 300gr.mm.

CFRP Microwave recycle system - UHT Unitech
The use of microwave heating on the carbon fiber composite recycle is efficient, energy-saving and safe to solve the problem of carbon fiber composites. The main principle is to radiate the carbon fiber reinforced composite with microwave. The energy of the microwave is quickly absorbed by the carbon fiber, the temperature increases quickly and the carbon fiber polymer composite is effectively decomposed to remove most polymer matrix of the carbon fiber polymer composite. This method is different with the traditional process (the heating energy diffuse from the surface of resin, the heat dissipation is much slower), the recycling yarn which could maintain the properties of strength and modulus more than 90%.
