Global composites director appointed by Exova

A recognised aerospace materials expert has been appointed by one of the leading testing groups as global technical director for composites.

Dr Natalia Becerra joins Exova from Rolls Royce, where she held a number of key positions including most recently programme manager for new product introduction and capability acquisition for global repair services.

At Exova she will lead the development of the group’s global composite testing services, primarily for the aerospace industry.

The Exova group is a world-leader in fibre-reinforced composites, offering support in material selection and qualification, testing, manufacturing process development, failure analysis, repair technology and training.

Dr Becerra joined Rolls Royce in 2007 as a material applications technologist, progressing through a number of roles including principal technologist and engineering commodity lead.

She holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Oxford Brookes University, and is a committee member of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE UK).

She holds the Chartered Engineering status with the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IoM3), belongs to the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and in her previous role sat on the research board of TWI, the independent research and technology organisation.
