Greater autoclave efficiency with lower cycle costs

JEC Europe 2012 - TE Wire & Cable, a leading supplier of performance-enhancing autoclave thermocouples and thermocouple interconnect assemblies, has engineered two brand new autoclave thermocouple products – AccuConnect and AccuFlex – that reduce costs, save technician set-up time and allow the cure of more parts per week.

The AccuConnect multicircuit thermocouple interconnect series provides easy single-point plug connection of multiple part thermocouples. No longer is it necessary to individually connect 6, 12 or more plugs into jack panels on the tool, the cart or the autoclave wall. The time required to hook up parts to the tool and cart during layup is significantly decreased. The AccuConnect series allows up to 95% of the wires to be connected before they arrive at the autoclave. The time spent loading and unloading an autoclave for each cure cycle can go from hours to minutes, reducing the open-door time by as much as 90%. Thus, there is more time available to cure the product, resulting in more cured parts per week.

The AccuFlex assembly is a cost-saving low-profile flat thermocouple inspired by composite repair users’ need for very small cross-section thermocouples. The patent-pending design practically eliminates the “mark-off” blemish embedded by vacuum pressure into the surface of a part repair. The assemblies are flexible, easy to bend around curves, easy to vacuum seal under the bag and have a welded hot junction and a moulded-on plug.
