HITCO to supply 777 Empennage Rib Chords to Boeing Commercial Airplanes

SGL Group’s subsidiary, HITCO Carbon Composites has reported that it has received a contract from Boeing Commercial Airplanes to manufacture and deliver 777 Empennage Rib Chords.

Anthony Lawson, President of HITCO, stated that the company is honored to ink this manufacturing and supply agreement with Boeing Commercial Airplanes for the delivery of 777 Empennage Rib Chords. The company is delighted to be chosen by Boeing to provide complex and high-quality components for use in the 777 program.


HITCO will specifically produce these composite parts at its Gardena plant in California in line with Boeing Process Specification 5317, using a dedicated manufacturing cell. The part qualification works have been completed for the 777 Empennage Rib Chords and the company is commencing sequential component production.


HITCO is already providing several composite structural parts for use in other Boeing Commercial airplanes, and C-17 military transport programs of Boeing. It has been supplying products to Boeing for more than 50 years. Back in 2008, Boeing had chosen HITCO as one of 11 companies to receive the “Supplier of the Year” award in major structures category.
