IDI Composites International (IDI), a global custom formulator and manufacturer of thermoset molding compounds, is celebrating the completion of a new research and development (R&D) center at its global headquarters in Noblesville, Ind. (USA). The multi-million dollar facility is adjoined to the 110,000 square foot manufacturing plant and serves a mission to advance existing technologies and discover innovative new materials that meet the evolving desires of design engineers across a breadth of industries.Research and development efforts at the new center will focus on exploring and advancing material possibilities in four key areas:
In addition to developing research and development strategy for IDI’s worldwide locations, the R&D center will provide expert technical assistance to IDI’s six production facilities around the globe. The completion of the center coincides with a milestone moment for IDI as the company prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016. IDI President Tom Merrell says the investment reflects the company’s commitment to leading new market development in the composites industry. “In order for our industry to evolve and grow the way we all want it to, we have to be willing to commit resources to this end.
