JEC Group have brought together the international community of composites leaders and executives in our Composites Circle as an unique networking opportunity to meet with both peers and future partners.
JEC Europe 2012 - BYK has extended its portfolio of innovative coupling agents with BYK®-C 8002.
At the JEC 2008 show, BYK presented its innovative coupling agent BYK®-C 8000 for filled, radical curing systems such as polymer concrete. BYK®-C 8000 improves key characteristics such as flexural, compressive, and tensile strength as well as impact resistance by up to 50%. The mechanical strength achieved even allows the thickness of components to be reduced without any loss of quality, thereby saving considerable costs. Now, three years later, BYK has extended its portfolio of innovative coupling agents with BYK®-C 8002, which is especially designed for ATH-filled acrylic resins.
Like BYK®-C 8000, BYK®-C 8002 also increases the mechanical properties of the finished product. Its active groups connect with the surface of the ATH and build a bridge to the resin using a double bond. Its multifunctional structure also prevents fillers from settling or separating in the liquid mixture. Although it has strong polar groups, it does not have a negative impact on other important properties such as the yellowing of pigmented parts or water absorption.
