20 Jun 2012

JEC Asia 2012 - Driven by delivering at every release major improvements in composite simulation, DIGIMAT 4.3.1 introduces tools that will increase the accuracy in failure prediction of your short fiber reinforced plastic parts as well as new functionalities to help you design composite materials on the microstructure level. Find also everything ready to enter the new topic of lifetime prediction of short fiber reinforced plastic parts!

What’s new in DIGIMAT 4.3.1?

Failure – TsaiHill3D transversely isotropic with HYBRID

The Tsai‐Hill transversely isotropic criterion allows the definition of full 3D failure by only three parameters. Applied on the composite level in each pseudo‐grain and used with the HYBRID solution it gives a highly accurate failure model for short fiber reinforced plastics. With 4.3.1 HYBRID failure is available independent from the solution method chosen for stiffness computation.

Fatigue – CAE interface to LMS Virtual.Lab Durability

The pseudo--‐grain based fatigue model is now available in the first interface to lifetime prediction software, for LMS Virtual.Lab Durability. Based on results from injection molding simulation the influence of local anisotropy on the S(N) curves is taken into account in the simulation of high cycle fatigue.

RVEs – More flexible generation of microstructures

The new release offers great enhancement in the flexibility of RVE generation. Among the new features are the definition of fixed inclusion positions, the control over positions and shape of clusters and general flexibility in the generation of phases in the RVE. To enable this, changes in the Digimat‐FE GUI structure have been made.

DigimatMX – Improved look & feel

Look & feel of Digimat‐MX has been adapted to the other DIGIMAT modules. A filter tree enables quick and efficient overview over data shown in the main window. An advanced filter tool is additionally available. Deeper level information is accesses via right‐click functionalities and shown in separate TABs. Import and Reverse Engineering tools are used to work on the database.
