Japanese carbon fiber regeneration development group disbanded

Recently Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd., Toray, and Toho Tenax three companies announced the dissolution news of their carbon fiber regeneration development.

The three companies will make full use of the knowledge and experience obtained from the combination research & development of the carbon fiber regeneration in the promotion of their production technology and business development respectively.

This combination was established by a joint investment of the three companies in April 2012. Through three years of R & D, they have achieved the initial goal -- to establish manufacturing technology. Starting from the business point of view, the three companies made a decision to dissolve this combination in March 31st, 2015.

In many fields such as aircraft and automobiles, carbon fiber reinforced resin (CFRP) have a growing demand. Along with this trend, the carbon fiber regeneration technology has been paid more and more attention by the industry participants.

In the carbon fiber industry groups, through the "carbon fiber research and development of technology demonstration project" subsidized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, in the year 2006, Japan Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association regeneration has established an experienmental factory in the environmental protection city of Omuta Shi, Fukuoka-ken.

In the year 2009, Japan Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association has once again obtained support from Fukuoka-ken and Omuta Shi to start the strengthening of the development of carbon fiber regeneration technology.

The above three companies have inherited the technology experience and the Omuta Shi pilot plant from the Japan Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association. And they has also set up a carbon fiber recycling technology development combination group, then began to jointly promote the development of carbon fiber regeneration technology.
