Johns Manville introduces Thermoflow 600+ for PBT/PET reinforcements, announces that Starrov 853 for LFT reinforcements is available in Americas And Europe and is certified GMP for articles used for food contact in Europe.

ThermoFlow 600+

ThermoFlow® 600+
Chopped strands are designed to provide superior as-molded mechanical performance in PBT/PET as well as improved flow performance for complex shapes used in electronics. The improved color performance after aging also enables compounders to increase the use of PBT engineered thermoplastics in consumer applications.

“JM continues to bring new products to market in engineered and structural thermoplastic composites to serve our customers,” said Jared Cox, Global Chopped Strands Product Manager for Engineered Products - Fibers. “ThermoFlow 600+ was developed in close cooperation with compounders and builds on JM’s 50 years of reinforcement expertise in Europe.”

StarRov 853

StarRov 853
StarRov 853 roving is available in both North America (225 Yield) and Europe (1200 and 2400 Tex). This product is designed for reinforcement in structural engineered thermoplastics, such as tapes and LFT (Long-Fiber Thermoplastics) where high heat performance is required.

“JM’s continuous innovation and product expansion globally for structural engineered thermoplastics is the result of great collaboration between our customers and our global product teams,” said Karin Demez, Global Marketing and Portfolio Leader in Engineered Products – Global Fibers.

StarRov 853 roving qualifies in critical applications where high heat structural mechanical performance are required.

GMP certification for food contact in Slovakia

The company announces that its plant in Slovakia received GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification in compliance with the provision of Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 for the fabrication of CFGF that is intended to be used in contact with food in engineered thermoplastic applications according to EU regulation 10/2011 (plastics regulation). The certification was granted by the certification body TÜV SÜD Slovakia, s.r.o., a member of the TÜV SÜD Group, the world leader in providing of inspection and certification services with long-term experience.

This certification is the first to be granted to a European CFGF manufacturer and demonstrates JM’s excellent manufacturing practice. JM has developed a broad range of performance CFGF grades for various engineered thermoplastics intended to come into contact with food, including ThermoFlow 674 chopped strands designed for PA and high-heat polymer reinforcements; ThermoFlow 636 and StarRov 490 for PP; and ThermoFlow 601 for PBT/PET.
