22 May 2012

Johns Manville (JM) recently received another new approval by Germanisher Lloyd (GL) for glass fibers to be used in wind turbine blades. StarRov076 direct roving is used to reinforce the product range in NCF (Non-Crimped Fabrics) and weaving processes.

StarRov® 086 (already GL approved) and StarRov® 076 will further strengthen an offering that includes the MultiStar® 586 and 563 product line used for complex fabric manufacturing.

This new approval confirms that JM’s StarRov® product line continues to meet the most stringent quality standards in the market. The company places tremendous importance on supporting the European weaving industry as evidenced by its continuous efforts as an independent glass fiber manufacturer to provide high-quality products and services to its customers.

Both StarRov® 086 and 076 are used in wind turbines and are also suitable for marine and industrial applications. The products are particularly suitable for the resin infusion process due to their good wetting characteristics and excellent fatigue behavior in epoxy systems.
