Kane Ace MX – tougheners for thermosetting resins

JEC Europe 2015 - Kane Ace MX is Kaneka's novel core shell rubber (CSR) toughening agent for thermosetting resins.

It is a predispersed CSR masterbatch that enhances the physical properties of the resins through optimal dispersion of core shell particles. This revolutionary liquid impact modifier achieves highly improved strength, improved fracture toughness and endurance without losing the heat resistance characteristics such as glass transition temperature (Tg) of the original systems. Kane Ace MX is used in composite, adhesive, coating, casting and other applications.

The company recently developed a new grade – MX-170 – which can improve fracture toughness while maintaining not only the Tg but also the flexural modulus and transparency of epoxy systems. MX-170 is the most suitable toughening agent for composite applications that need high modulus and good appearance (transparency).

On top of the above-mentioned epoxy-based toughening agent, the company now has a new grade in its product line, which is suitable for unsaturated polyester resin (UPE) and vinyl ester resin (VER). This grade can improve toughness and mitigate crack problems during processing caused by the brittleness of UPE and VER.
