Lloyd’s register of shipping signed a cooperation agreement in China

China National Wind Power Equipment Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (WPEQSIC) and Lloyd’s Register of Shipping signed a cooperation agreement for a joint laboratory in Yancheng.

WPEQSIC formally started construction in February in Yancheng High-tech Zone Sinovel Industrial Park. The project plans a total investment of $40 million USD, covers an area of 33333 square meters of which  35,000 square meters are building area. The center main building is planned for completion within this year.


WPEQSIC will include a Market Development Department, a R&D Department, and an Inspection Department. The center will also include 9 laboratories such as generator laboratory, tower components laboratory, anti-corrosion materials and materials corrosion resistance laboratory, electrical control system laboratory. The center will carry out the entire wind power equipment, product management, development and pilot testing.


British Lloyd's Register is the world's oldest prestigious authoritative certification body in the world shipping industry with a long history. This cooperation is a high-end Sino-British technical service institutions cooperation in the field of wind power equipment testing technology. It is truly a cross-border, comprehensive, multi facets, in depth cooperation.


After signing the agreement, both sides will discuss WPEQSIC anticorrosive laboratory planning and construction. The offshore wind power equipment project testing and industry standard-setting cooperation will be carried out too. It is believed that this center will provide a powerful technology support for the new round development of wind power industry in Jiangsu coastal area. And it will also add new vitality to create a state-level high-tech industrial zone of an area of 100 square kilometers.
