Every two years, the Network Group for Composites in Construction (NGCC) gives out the Early Career Researcher award.

The Network Group for Composites in Construction (NGCC) develops awareness among young engineers of the importance and potential of research in FRP advancing structural engineering.

Every two years, at the Advanced Composites in Construction conference, the organisation gives out the Early Career Researcher award, providing a unique platform for research students to present their work and exchange ideas with their peers and key academic and industry leaders.

This year the winner is Lucian-Attila Blaga, from Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Centre for Materials and Coastal Research, for its research on Friction riveting as a new joining solution for GFRP lightweight emergency bridges.

Runners Up:

  • Lateral-torsional buckling resistance of pultruded FRP beams
Tien Thuy Nguyen, University of Warwick
  • Fire performance of FRP reinforced concrete: bond deterioration at elevated temperature
    Emma Reid-McIntyre, University of Edinburgh
