JEC Europe 2015 - Harper International is the pioneer of the Microline system, based on flexibility and versatility for the needs of those in carbon fibre research and experimentation. 

The full line includes innovative oxidation ovens, LT and HT furnaces, a state-of-the-art HMI supervisory control interface, material handling and treatment systems, and waste gas abatement systems. The line can also include Harper’s ultra high temperature (UHT) furnace technology rated to 2800°C for advanced carbon fibre development.

Designed for traditional or emerging precursors and focused development of samples for up to 1.5 tons per year, the system accommodates line speeds ranging from 0.1 m/min to over 1 m/min and tows from 10 filaments to 48,000 filaments, enabling the study of effects of various process parameters using a small amount of precursor.

To support the customer’s advanced needs, the Microline allows for maximum manipulation of key process parameters, including controlling tension after each unit operation and multiple zones of temperature control. Drive systems are designed for precision control, allowing for flexibility in tow counting, loading, and drive position. Harper’s Microline is the most capable complete R&D system in the industry with the ability to process continuous tows of carbon fibre with high precision and outstanding data collection capabilities, offering increased versatility and flexibility for the customer’s adjustments and modifications during their R&D trials.
