Molding Products announces SMC price increase

News International-French

6 Feb 2012

Darrell Young, National Sales Manager of Interplastic Corporations Molding Products Division (MPD), announced today that the price of its sheet molding composite products is increasing by ($0.03 to $0.05) per pound. The price will go into effect on all shipments on or after February 15, 2012.

We have received price increases from our major raw material suppliers throughout the last quarter of 2011 and now into the first quarter of 2012, explained Mr. Young. Young also noted that continued tight supply and strong overseas markets have put upward pressure on the price of several key raw material streams including pigments, fillers, polyester resin, and styrene monomer which are key ingredients in SMC.

Interplastic Molding Products Division understands the challenging market we face; however, basic raw materials are expected to continue rising into the New Year and these costs can no longer be absorbed, stated Mr. Young. Interplastics Molding Products Division appreciates the understanding and continued support of its customers and will do everything possible to keep these cost increases to a minimum.
