Maximum PC magazine named MSC one of the 10 original software companies, along with innovators such as IBM, Computer Sciences Corporation, Apple and Microsoft. The company was founded in 1963 by Dr. Richard MacNeal and Robert Schwendler. It scored the success that would fuel its growth in 1965, when it won a contract to develop a unified computerized structural analysis product for NASA. That project became NASTRAN, or NASA Structural Analysis Program.MSC released a commercial version of NASRTAN, MSC Nastran, in 1971, and has steadily expanded the boundaries of simulation and analysis software since. In 2003, NASA stated the value of NASTRAN to society is over $10B.The 2013 MSC Software User Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine, Calif, on May 7-8 in Irvine, Calif.
