To insure that Magnum Venus Plastech stayed at the forefront of Composites technology, its President Tom Hedger instituted several changes within the company, including a focus on engineering new technologies to meet the needs of the new sectors using Composites materials.

Over the last 60+ years, Magnum Venus Plastech has stood at the forefront of pioneering cutting edge technology for the Composites Industry. Over the decades MVP set the bar in external mix technology, and pioneered the only successful internal mix technology with H.I.S., SystemOne, FIT®, UltraMAX™ and Patriot™ systems, internal mix guns such as the Pro Gun, cutting edge Closed Mold technology with LRTM and Flex Molding Process™ and innovative comprehensive systems for Advanced Equipment applications such as Filament Winding, flat panel production and automated fiber placement.

Looking ahead at what the future of Composites manufacturing could be, Magnum Venus Plastech President Tom Hedger realized MVP is in a unique position – with the combined expertise of the staff within MVP, as well being one of the founding companies of Composites processing equipment, according to him Magnum Venus Plastech has the Innovative Flexibility that none of their competitors can match. MVP is a company big enough to take on the challenges of developing new technology to process the latest materials, but small enough to insure each customer has the best support for their products.

“MVP is the very definition of Innovative Flexibility”, says Mr. Hedger. “Our 100+ years of combined experience, coupled with our ability to respond to growing and more diverse applications across a broad spectrum of industries such as Aerospace, Defense, Energy, Infrastructure and Recreational Vehicles, with a multitude of standard products and engineered solutions for new and advanced composite materials, sets us apart from any other equipment manufacturer in the Composites Industry.”

To insure that Magnum Venus Plastech stayed at the forefront of Composites technology, Mr. Hedger instituted several changes within the company, including a focus on engineering new technologies to meet the needs of the new sectors using Composites materials.

As he restructured many aspects of the company, he placed an emphasis on providing innovative solutions that serve a broad spectrum of Composites manufacturers. Mr. Hedger tasked the Sales department to explore new markets that deal in specialty processes and materials, and taking that information directed the Advanced Design Group to develop the necessary systems to meet those requirements. What they developed were systems that provide the precise high-volume metering needed for parts such as wind turbine blades and the flexibility to meter materials of different compositions and viscosities, to the systems designed for precise metering at low flow rates with materials such as epoxies, urethanes, silicones and more.

The result of this new direction is many of the raw materials suppliers now come to MVP first when looking to develop a system that will process their newest materials. With the heart of research and development, engineering, fabrication, assembly and more centrally located at the MVP Technology Center in Kent, Washington, companies looking to partner with MVP on new development need only come to one place to find it all.

MVP is proud to be leading the way in innovative closed mold technologies like Flex Molding Process that allow for the use of multiple materials types, as well as the ability to manufacture parts as small as a helmet to parts as large as a wind turbine blade. Since its introduction in 2010 more than 20 customers have made the change to Flex Molding Process in their production, and the schedule for consultation and training on this process in 2012 includes customers in over 50 countries.

With the new emphasis on expanding the scope of MVP products, Magnum Venus Plastech has decided to take on a new look by re-branding the logo and corporate Web site. The new logo reflects the company’s commitment to being the number one global supplier of Composites solutions, all available from one source. MVP is also completely redesigning their corporate Web site to keep customers up-to-date on the latest technologies, processes, technical information and product updates developed by MVP. It will truly be a tool for MVP customers to improve their overall production.

According to the company, the beauty of this “new” MVP is that customers will no longer need to purchase equipment from several sources, all with different training techniques and levels of technical service after the sale. They can now come to one company, with the Industry experience, expertise, technology and commitment to customer service that has made them #1 for over 60 years.
