Norplex-Micarta appoints plant manager

The company announced on the 21st of July 2011 the appointment of Alan Johnson to Plant Manager at the company’s Postville, IA headquarters.  Mr. Johnson has succeeded Jim Gilbert who retired after 34 years of service with Norplex.

Mr. Johnson’s responsibilities now include the overall management, direction, and coordination of plant production while also overseeing the engineering, maintenance, marketing, and purchasing departments.


Mr. Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the position having worked many years in the industrial laminate industry. Mr. Johnson has served as Manager of Technical Services at Nevamar, Engineering Manager at International Paper and most recently Mr. Johnson was Director of Business Development for Norplex-Micarta the past seven years.  As Director of Business Development Mr. Johnson has been instrumental in Norplex’s pursuit to find new uses for thermoset composites, and continued growth in its existing markets.  Mr. Johnson is also a member of NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).
